The Los Angeles Lakers took on the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night and came away with the big win. The final score was 119-102, with Los Angeles leading pretty much the entire way through.
Star forward LeBron James led the way for the Lakers, dropping 30 points, grabbing three rebounds, and dishing out eight assists. It was another strong game for the veteran and he helped his team pick up another win.
But toward the end of the game, with the Lakers up by a ton, Los Angeles elected to bring rookie guard Bronny James into the contest. Bronny only played a few minutes in garbage time but anytime he gets into the game, it's exciting.
Bronny finished his time on the floor by scoring zero points but he did have an assist. With the game in hand, Bronny was only on the floor for a short time.
Bronny has shuffled back and forth between the NBA and the G League. The rookie has recently started to put things together while in the G League and it's been great to see.
The Lakers believe that Bronny can eventually become an impactful player at the NBA level. His skillset is based on his athleticism and defensive instincts on the floor, giving him an edge at different times.
Coming out of college, the biggest strength that Bronny showed was his defense and he has continued that in his short time in the league. While he is still a long way away from being a full-time player at the NBA level, his growth in recent weeks has been impressive.
After coming back from a nagging calf injury, Bronny has been fun to watch. The guard is engaged on both ends of the floor and it seems he is rounding into form.
LeBron even has commented on the comfortability of his son, praising Bronny for his hard work.
"He's looking more and more comfortable. He's just going out there and just playing off instinct. That's how he's always played. You know, I think he said after one of the games that mentally he's starting to feel better after the incident. Everything is starting to come back in shape, to come back in form."
If Bronny continues to play well, he could see more time up with the Lakers. It may just be garbage minutes for him but any reps in an NBA game will do him a lot of good.
