‘Supernatural’ Cast: Where Are They Now?

Family is forever. Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles not only formed a close bond with each other while playing brothers Sam and Dean Winchester, respectively, on Supernatural, but they also forged an unbreakable connection with their fans. The actors led the CW drama for 15 seasons from September 2005 to November 2020. The duo were the only cast members to appear in all 327 episodes of the series, which followed the siblings as they hunted demons, monsters, ghosts and other supernatural beings. Ackles, Padalecki and Misha Collins announced in March 2019 that the show would come to an end. “I am so incredibly grateful for the family that we’ve all built together,” the Gilmore Girls alum told fans via Instagram at the time. “I love y’all and am more appreciative of y’all than my meager vocabulary could hope to describe. I’m also typing through tears. So, please forgive me. ‘Til next time. #WinchestersNeverDie.” Padalecki told Us Weekly in May 2019 that he felt like he would “never really say goodbye” to his character. He also reflected on what he would miss most about the show. “We really have become a family,” he said. “Over 15 years, we’ve cut the fat. We didn’t fire anybody but if they didn’t like being there, they move on. So the people that are there want to be there.” Ackles, for his part, set his eye toward expanding the Supernatural universe. “It’s a long journey,” he teased during a TV Critics’ Association press tour panel in August 2019. “I don’t think it’s ever going to be over. It’s just going to go away for a while. I don’t know how long.” The Boys star added that he was “not ever ready to close doors or burn bridges. I think that’s foolish.” [jwplayer izeaKCFi-l3ahXupL] Ackles announced in June 2021 that he and wife Danneel Ackles had a Supernatural prequel series in the works that centered around Dean and Sam’s parents. However, Padalecki was less than thrilled by the idea, claiming that he was not informed about the project before the news went public. “Dude. Happy for you,” the New York Minute star tweeted. “Wish I heard about this some way other than Twitter. I’m excited to watch, but bummed that Sam Winchester had no involvement whatsoever.” When a fan suggested that Padalecki’s response was a “bad joke,” he replied, “No. It’s not. This is the first I’ve heard about it. I’m gutted.” The House of Wax star subsequently requested that his followers keep their cool after Jensen faced backlash. “Hey world. Thank you for the love,” he wrote via Twitter. “Please PLEASE don’t send any hate or threats. I care deeply about everybody involved and would be in true misery if any of them were harmed or threatened.” Padalecki later clarified that he and his former costar "had a great talk" and their friendship was "good" again. "We've travelled a lot of roads together, and sometimes those damn roads have bumps. Bumps don't stop us. Once brothers, always brothers." The actor did not even take a break between Supernatural and his next gig. He began starring on Walker in 2021. He also owns a bar in Austin, Texas, called Stereotype.  

Padalecki has been married to Genevieve Cortese since February 2010. The couple are parents of sons Thomas and Shepherd and daughter Odette.

Jensen appeared as Soldier Boy on the third season of Prime Video's The Boys, which reunited him with Supernatural creator Eric Kripke in 2022. He then joined ABC's Big Sky as a sheriff later that year. 

He also starred as a U.S. Marshal in Rust, a Western film, alongside Alec Baldwin. The movie stopped filming in fall 2021 after the accidental shooting and death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. 

He and wife Danneel Ackles (née Harris) executive produced The Winchesters, a Supernatural prequel focused on Dean and Sam’s parents. The actor reprised his role as Dean by narrating the CW series.  

Outside of acting, the Smallville alum co-owns Texas brewery Family Business Beer Company with his relatives.  

Jensen has been married to Danneel since May 2010. They share daughter Justice and twins Arrow and Zeppelin.  

The actor starred as iconic Batman villain Harvey Dent/Two Face on The CW's Gotham Knights, which debuted in March 2023. He released his first book of poetry, Some Things I Still Can’t Tell You, in October 2021.

He has also been focused on his charity work with Random Acts, a nonprofit organization he cofounded that funds acts of kindness, and the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt.  

Collins tied the knot with Victoria Vantoch in October 2001. They are parents of son West and daughter Maison. 

After wrapping his run on Supernatural, Sheppard appeared on Doom Patrol and on the Padalecki-produced series Walker: Independence.   

The actor shares sons Max and Will with his ex-wife, Jessica. He wed Sarah Louise Fudge in November 2015, and they welcomed daughter Isabella the following year.  

Pellegrino will next be seen in American Rust and Strangers in a Strange Land.  

The actor is married to Tracy Aziz. He is the stepfather of her daughter, Tess, and her son, Misha. 

After playing the Winchester family matriarch, the Supernatural actress was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent a double mastectomy in July 2020 and has focused on fundraising since then, contributing to Equal Hope Illinois and organizations dedicated to helping breast cancer patients.

Smith has been married since 2008 and has a son.

Calvert has kept a relatively low profile since the show ended, but he has used some of his time off to raise money for charities including the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre in Canada. He appeared on an episode of Supernatural spinoff The Winchesters in 2023. 

Since her days on Supernatural, Connell appeared in the 2020 film The Cursed Man, where she played Bonnie. She also scored the role of Night Nurse in HBO Max's DC Comics adaptation Doom Patrol, a character she is rumored to reprise in the spinoff Dead Boy Detectives.
