One hundred days after his last game, No. 99 is back.

Officially activated Monday, Aaron Judge returned to the sport and to the Yankees on Tuesday, when he was playing right field and batting third against righty Gabriel Hughes to begin a series with the Rockies in The Bronx.

The first lineup featuring Judge in over three months included Ben Rice (at DH) leading off, followed by left fielder Cody Bellinger, followed by the team’s captain.

Luis Garcia Jr., in his first game alongside Judge, batted cleanup and played first base. Spencer Jones (center), Jazz Chisholm Jr. (second), George Lombard Jr. (shortstop), Ryan McMahon (third) and Austin Wells (catcher) rounded out the order. 

Judge, who has been out with a rib fracture since May 31, has 19 games to get up to speed, attempt to carry the Yankees over the Rays (while stiff-arming away the Red Sox) to steal the division and get himself ready for the postseason without the benefit of a rehab assignment.

It is possible that Judge is subbed out of Tuesday’s game (and further games) early as the Yankees build up his reps on the fly.
