We're through the first five weeks of the NFL season, and I'm here to report that Cooper DeJean and Abby Summers continue to choose love over divisional rivalry. It's a beautiful thing to witness.

Forget any forced narratives being pushed by the league. The relationship between the Philadelphia Eagles defensive back and the Dallas Cowboys cheerleader should be getting a lot more attention.

This is a romance that's defying all odds in the NFC East. These two are making it work despite being members of opposing franchises. Week 5 of the long season showed their commitment.

Abby was on the sideline and participated in the halftime show on Thursday night as the Cowboys lost at home to the backup quarterback-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

By Sunday, she had traded in her pom-poms and the iconic Cowboys cheerleader outfit for Eagles green as Philadelphia lost in unbelievable fashion to the Jacksonville Jaguars across the pond in London.

Now don't go around pointing fingers at Abby Summers as if she's responsible for the Eagles loss. That's not fair. They had that game in the bag until the crazy kickoff decision at the end.

That's not her fault.

As far as any of us know, mostly because she wasn't one of the WAGs who popped in the NFL's propaganda campaign, she wasn’t keeping Cooper DeJean out of the film room during training camp for social media videos.

How each of them bounces back after tough losses will tell a lot about what the season has in store for them. In a couple of weeks, we'll know even more.

That's because the Cowboys and Eagles will play each other for the first time this season, and it will be on Monday Night Football in Philadelphia. That's going to be the first real test of this relationship.

Flying out and playing WAG in London is one thing. Doing it at Lincoln Financial Field as a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader is something completely different.

If Cooper DeJean and Abby Summers can make it through that, they can make it through anything. Including a game on Thanksgiving in Dallas.

I'm not rooting for either team, but I will continue to root for the rival couple.
