Alexander Zverev has had the best season of his tennis career by far in 2026.

And this success (including winning the French Open, the U.S. Open, and most recently the Erste Bank Open in Vienna this past weekend) allowed him to capture the world No. 1 ranking for the first time in his career on Monday, overtaking Italy’s Jannik Sinner.

Zverev’s girlfriend, German influencer Sophia Thomalla, celebrated this ranking with an Instagram post on Tuesday.

It showed photos of Zverev holding up a trophy and his team all flashing a “1” with their fingers on the court, and was captioned, “Couldn’t be prouder of you. You deserve every bit of this. ❤️🏆 Nr. 1!! Common!!”

She also added a photo of their dog with his tongue out, which was captioned, “When your dad finally becomes world No. 1 and you can relax for the first time in your life”.

Zverev, Thomalla, and their dog can’t rest for long, given what just happened in Paris.

The 29-year-old German star lost in straight sets to Italy’s Lorenzo Mussetti in the Round of 32 at the Paris Masters on Wednesday.

This stunning upset was Zverev’s first match since earning that top world ranking, which might be short-lived after losing so early in the same city he won the Franch Open at earlier this year.

It also means that Thomalla’s Instagram post celebrating Zverev aged like milk.

Zverev is one of the sport’s most polarizing athletes, and a lot of fans actively root against him.

These fans haven’t had much to celebrate this season. But his early exit at the Paris Masters will put a smile on their faces.
