Republican Bruce Blakeman hit three corners of NYC to deliver his affordability message Saturday as his gubernatorial bid reached the final stretch, jabbing opponent Gov. Kathy Hochul and “anti-American” Mayor Zohran Mamdani along the way.
The Nassau County executive made an early pitstop at the Staten Island Republican Party headquarters in New Dorp where supporters greeted him before he schlepped across the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to the Brooklyn GOP’s office in Dyker Heights.
In Brooklyn, Blakeman vowed to end NYC’s sanctuary city status and help put more money in New Yorkers’ pockets by lowering taxes.
He said he’s best qualified to save New Yorkers from Mamdani’s “communist” regime and continued his campaign push of branding the mayor as an “antisemite,” “anti-Christian,” and “anti-American.”
He mocked the brevity of the socialist mayor’s campaign appearance in Brooklyn on Friday with opponent Hochul, suggesting it had to do with her likeability.
“They were only here for 15 minutes. Even Zohran Mamdani can’t stand to be with her for more than 15 minutes,” he quipped.
Hochul is holding on to a 14-point lead over Blakeman heading into the Nov. 3 general election according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.
Others at the rally included US Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn) and Republican comptroller candidate Joseph Hernandez.
“Let’s deliver this victory for the United States of America,” said Malliotakis, who is heavily favored to be re-elected in her race against Dem Mike DeCillis.
“We will never allow a socialist takeover of our state or our country! As Frank Sinatra said, ‘It’s up to you, New York.’ So let’s do this.”
Blakeman was scheduled to later head to Queens for a rally outside the Flushing Public Library.
