There is no stopping Brock Bowers.
In Sunday’s 38-33 victory against the New York Jets, Bowers showed why he is emerging as the best tight end in football after he became the first player at his position to have 70+ receiving yards in each of his first six games of a season.
Bowers now has 34 receptions for 455 yards and three touchdowns this season.
His Week 8 accomplishment comes after he missed the first two games of the season due to an injury on his meniscus.
Bowers finished the day as the team’s leading receiver, having seven receptions for 92 yards and hauling in two of quarterback Kirk Cousins’ three passing touchdowns.
Bowers had the Raiders’ first score in the first quarter, when Cousins found him in the endzone for a 12-yard touchdown reception. Then again, in the third quarter on a two-yard completion to give them a 23-21 deficit.
The Raiders regained a lead that they lost in the second quarter during the fourth quarter when Cousins completed a 2-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Nailor to make him the third quarterback in franchise history to throw 20 touchdowns through the first eight games of the season.
Las Vegas extended their lead to the game’s final score during the final 31 seconds when Matt Gay nailed a 53-yard field goal.
With the combined heroics of Bowers and Cousins, the Raiders snapped a four-game losing streak and are now 4-3, as the NFL trade deadline is approaching on November 10.
