An e-bike rider is clinging to life after he was struck by a hit-and-run driver on a busy Brooklyn street Tuesday night, cops said.
The 33-year-old biker was riding south in the right lane on Nostrand Avenue near Atlantic Avenue in Crown Heights – a buzzing commercial intersection – around 7:30 p.m. when he was struck by the driver of a white 2026 Hyundai Elantra, police said.
The Elantra driver had been in the center lane before beginning to merge into the right lane, where the crash happened, authorities said.
The cyclist was thrown from the bike onto the pavement and suffered head trauma, according to cops.
He was rushed to the Kings County Hospital Center, where he remained in critical condition Wednesday, police said.
The Hyundai driver fled the scene, heading south on Nostrand Avenue, and remained on the lam, police said.
The crash comes weeks after a man riding an e-bike was fatally struck by a pick-up truck driver in the Bronx, cops and sources said.
The 50-year-old biker was heading west on East 145th Street when the truck driver, traveling south on Brook Avenue in Mott Haven, hit him around 8:25 a.m. Oct. 7, according to authorities and law enforcement sources.
The pick-up truck driver, a 55-year-old man, stayed at the scene and did not face any charges, police said.
And last month, a delivery woman was killed when a dump truck plowed into her e-bike and then drove off in the heart of Herald Square, according to cops and an advocacy group.
The truck driver collided with the 50-year-old cyclist the morning of Sept. 28, as both headed west on West 34th Street, approaching Seventh Avenue, police said.
The woman — who was riding a JOCO rental e-bike and making a delivery — was pronounced dead at the scene.
