An NFL great has shared a troubling update about one of his children.

Hall of Fame running back Edgerrin James revealed Monday night that his son Edgerrin Jr., a college basketball player who goes by Jizzle, is batting substance abuse.

“Jizzle is dealing with substance abuse and is NOT in the right state of mind right now,” James wrote on his Instagram Story. “If you see him, show him LOVE-but DO NOT give him money, valuables, or anything material.

“You’re not helping him by feeding the problem. He wants/needs for NOTHING…

“Give him a hug. Give him encouragement. Give him love. THAT’S IT…

“Be patient with him. We’re fighting for him, not against him.”

James, 48, ended his message with “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright,” with the Al Green song playing over the Story.

Jizzle, 21, played at Cincinnati for the last three seasons.

After Cincinnati fired Miller and he became the head coach at Charlotte, Jizzle transferred to join Miller, but he currently doesn’t appear on the 49ers’ roster.

Jizzle is one of James’ six children, and is one of the four children James had with his longtime girlfriend Andia, who died from leukemia in 2009 at the age of 30.

James was a four-time Pro Bowler with the Colts, playing alongside Peyton Manning after getting drafted No. 4 overall in 1999.

He won Offensive Rookie of the Year honors after rushing for 1,553 yards with 13 touchdowns, along with 62 catches for 586 yards and four receiving touchdowns.

James, who spent three years with the Cardinals and ended his career with the Seahawks in 2009, finished with 12,246 rushing yards and 80 touchdowns.

He also had 852 yards and six touchdowns in 13 playoff games.
