Podcaster Shawn Ryan and retired U.S. Army intelligence officer Sam Shoemate have shared more messages on social media allegedly from Matthew Livelsberger, a Green Beret and the main suspect in the Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas after his alleged manifesto was emailed.
Newsweek has reached out to The Shawn Ryan Show via online email form and the FBI via email for comment.
Why It Matters
Firework mortars and camp fuel canisters were found inside the Tesla Cybertruck that exploded outside President-elect Donald Trump's Las Vegas hotel early Wednesday. The blast resulted in a single casualty, the suspect inside the vehicle, and sparked national attention and a thorough investigation into potential terrorism.
On Thursday, authorities identified the victim as Livelsberger, 37, who reportedly shot himself in the head moments before the explosion. Seven others, meanwhile, were injured in the incident. Authorities found several charred items inside the truck including a handgun at Livelsberger's feet, another firearm, a passport, a military ID, credit cards, an iPhone and a smartwatch.
While investigators are still determining Livelsberger's motives for detonating the explosives outside the hotel, his alleged manifesto, emailed to Shoemate, has provided some clues. In the document, Livelsberger, allegedly raised questions about national security and U.S. military transparency—offering potential insight into his actions.
What To Know
Shoemate, an intelligence analyst, who said he received an email from Livelsberger with his alleged manifesto just days before the car bomb exploded, has since taken to social media and The Shawn Ryan Show podcast to share more about the email and messages allegedly from Livelsberger.
In a Saturday post on X, formerly Twitter, Shoemate said that while some may be skeptical that Livelsberger was the one who sent the email, he would share screenshots of the chain messages from Livelsberger.
"I don't think people are doubting the emails exist. I think they're doubting whether they were sent by Matt or someone impersonating him. For what it's worth, here's the chain though," Shoemate wrote on X with four screenshots of the messages.
The alleged messages, also being shared by Ryan, a former Navy SEAL, show the initial contact Livelsberger made with Shoemate as one message states," Sending with a vpn active on wifi only. Do not message me. I will send out updates via both signal and email but trust me you're going to want to be involved."
Another message states, "Can I get a Fox News contact on Signal as well as shawns show. [Pete] Hegseth would be good too."
Hegseth is Trump's nominee to lead the Department of Defense (DOD).
In another post on X, Ryan shared how he also received messages from the same email address Shoemate had received messages from.
"The same email address that messaged @samosauralso sent a message to the Shawn Ryan Show," Ryan wrote.
The email reads, "Hey man this is an activity duty sf tm sgt out of 10th. I want to blow the whistle on our activities in a certain place. I'm willing to sit down with you on the 31st in Flagstaff or do it remotely via phone. Must be done before the 31st as I'll be leaving."
This comes after Ryan announced that he would be disappearing for a "few days" before he published a new episode about the alleged manifesto.
At 2:57 p.m. ET Friday, Ryan posted a warning that he would be "disappearing for a few days" with his family, citing concerns about the "mind boggling" revelations that would be in his newest episode.
Half an hour after the release of the episode, Ryan's account posted a screenshot of the email Shoemate received from the sender, who claimed to be Livelsberger. The email details two major claims.
First, the email said the mystery drones that have been spotted over New Jersey in November and December 2024 were of Chinese origin and used "gravitic propulsion systems" that are "the most dangerous threat to national security that has ever existed."
Second, the email detailed alleged war crimes, such as an airstrike in the Afghanistan province of Nimruz in 2019 that Livelsberger claims he helped cover up.
Ryan and Shoemate repeated during the show that they have not been able to verify any of the claims that the email raised, but they would work to do so.
What People Are Saying
Spencer Evans, FBI special agent in charge, at a news conference, "Although this incident is more public and more sensational than usual, it ultimately appears to be a tragic case of suicide involving a heavily decorated combat veteran who was struggling with PTSD and other issues."
Tesla CEO Elon Musk on X, "The evil knuckleheads picked the wrong vehicle for a terrorist attack. Cybertruck actually contained the explosion and directed the blast upwards."
Sam Shoemate wrote on X: "It's been a long day, and this post is infinitely less humorous in light of today's events. I reached out to the FBI this morning and forwarded the contents of this email to them.
What Happens Next
Authorities are still working to determine a motive as the FBI is expected to continue to examine the evidence to determine whether the manifesto is legitimately tied to Livelsberger.
