The anguished family of a Brooklyn grandmother who went missing two weeks ago on a trip to Las Vegas has taken desperate measures to locate her, including checking local morgues for her body.
Alisa Goods, 63, was in town visiting a longtime friend when she left his apartment near the Las Vegas Strip the afternoon of Aug. 8 to pick up a few items at a CVS pharmacy and hasn’t been seen since.
Las Vegas Metro Police now consider her disappearance a missing person case, and have conducted a search within a 20-mile radius of her last known location near East Flamingo and Paradise roads.
Brooklyn grandmother Alisa Goods, 63, went missing after leaving an apartment near the Las Vegas Strip on Aug. 8 in Las Vegas. FOX5“I’m extremely worried,” her daughter, Kristen, who flew into town from New Jersey hoping to find her missing mother told Fox 5 Vegas.
“We have checked hospitals,” Kristen said. “We have checked morgues.”
Goods’ family said it was “not like her” to go missing and grew increasingly concerned after her disconnected cell phone started sending messages to family members.
The suspected imposter in possession of her phone claimed to be at a gas station and that her credit card was working in a text exchange with Goods’ niece, Alana Calloway.
“I said, ‘Well, okay, I can send you money for gas. How much do you want me to send you?’” Calloway told Fox 8. “Then they wanted the bitcoin. And then I said, ‘Well, hold on. Let me get Kelly to help.’ We have nobody in our family named Kelly.”
She said she believes Goods would have asked who Kelly was had it been her on the other end of the phone.
Goods’ daughter, Kristen, said they’ve “checked hospitals” and “have checked morgues” for Goods. FOX5Goods’ friend, Roger John, whom she usually stays with in Sin City and has known for 20 years, called her “the nicest person you would meet.”
Her concerned friend, who police said is not a suspect in her disappearance, has been posting flyers with her picture on around the area where she vanished.
The family said Goods had recently undergone several leg surgeries, which would make it impossible for her to get far on foot.
