There is finally a bit more clarity around Caleb Williams’ injury.

The Bears quarterback suffered a Grade 2 right hamstring injury, according to ESPN, which doctors believe could sideline him for three to four weeks.

Williams was ruled out for the team’s home game against the Eagles on Monday, though the Bears have not provided many details about the extent of the injury.

He went down during the Bears’ 9-3 home loss to the Vikings last week and stayed on the ground in severe pain.

An emotional Williams was eventually carted off the field.

That it was a non-contact injury, coupled with Williams’ dramatic reaction, prompted fears that he suffered a more severe and potentially season-ending injury.

But subsequent tests showed that he avoided the worst-case scenario and that it was a hamstring injury, with coach Ben Johnson saying Williams is week-to-week — though he also described the test results as “somewhat encouraging.”

“Here’s what I know,” Johnson said last week. “This guy’s a little bit different than the average human being. I said that last night, I’ll double down on that. He gets back — he has in the past — a lot faster than what people can anticipate, and so I’m not putting a timeline on this. We’re going to say week-to-week. He’s going to attack this with everything that he knows.”

Williams previously suffered an injury the same hamstring in college.

The Bears’ quarterback situation behind Williams is murky as well.

Backup Tyson Bagent is in concussion protocol, though he did practice on Saturday and is officially listed as questionable for Monday’s game.

If he can’t go, third-string Case Keenum would be thrust into duty.
