Teofimo Lopez is set to make his welterweight debut, fighting for a world title against the reigning champion and old friend Rolando 'Rolly' Romero at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Lopez has chosen to remain active since his second career loss at the hands of Shakur Stevenson, relinquishing his WBO super lightweight title at the end of January earlier this year, and jumping straight into the deep end in one of the hottest divisions in boxing.
He's taking on Romero in the hopes of becoming a three-weight world champion in his debut for his newly signed landmark deal with DAZN.

The pair know each other well, having spent countless hours inside and outside the gym, and Romero even said that their families know each other, making this an intriguing fight between two old training partners turned world-champion rivals.
We have not seen Romero in over a year. The last time he appeared in the ring was on the forgettable Times Square card in May last year alongside Lopez, where he sprung an upset on the recently returned Ryan Garcia, dropping him in the second round on the way to a unanimous decision victory.
There has been no real explanation as to Romero's extended absence from the welterweight division. Since having his WBA 'Regular' belt elevated to 'Super' champion status in August last year following the departure of Jaron 'Boots' Ennis, the American has not defended his belt once.

As a former unified lightweight and WBO super lightweight champion who has shared the ring with some of the best in and around those weights, like Vasiliy Lomachenko, Shakur Stevenson and Josh Taylor, Lopez will be entering the fight as the favorite. Romero shouldn't be written off, however, as he brings a gritty and fight-first style that can give anyone trouble, as we saw against Garcia.
The undercard isn't the most stacked of the year, but there are two fights to certainly keep an eye on. Cuban prospect Yoenli Hernandez will take on Francisco Daniel Veron in the middleweight division, representing a big step up for the 10-0 with 9 KOs Hernandez.
There is also a title fight hidden on the undercard as Victor Santillan defends his interim WBA super bantamweight title against Antonio Russel, adding an extra dash of title intrigue to the proceedings.
