Mary Trump has criticized her uncle, saying his speeches are "growing increasingly violent and offensive."

The former president sparked criticism on Monday over comments he made on a segment of former Trump administration official Sebastian Gorka's America First podcast.

Trump, the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee, said during the segment: "Any Jewish person that votes for Democrats hates their religion. They hate everything about Israel and they should be ashamed of themselves because Israel would be destroyed."

Mary Trump, a writer and prominent critic of her uncle, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her thoughts on what he said on the podcast as well his recent public appearances. While she said Donald Trump "shores up his base with fear and hatred," she believes the cracks in his campaign are growing.

Newsweek emailed spokespeople for Donald and Mary Trump for comment on Wednesday.

"As someone who knows Donald, I'll tell you how his recent unhinged rhetoric can backfire: First, Donald is inadvertently pushing away Republican voters who supported Haley. As many as 30 percent of the Republican electorate in important races are now questioning their allegiance to Donald and, possibly, to their party," she wrote.

"Second, Donald is engaging Democrats in a big way. His inflammatory remarks galvanize us, the opposition, and mobilize voters who might otherwise have stayed on the sidelines.

"The more he pushes us, the more we push back. Whenever Donald says something that disgusts you or makes you feel afraid for the future of our country, you know it's time for us to stick together and work harder."

Donald’s speeches are growing increasingly violent and offensive.

But while he shores up his base with fear and hatred, the cracks in his campaign are widening.

First, Donald is…

Mary Trump also discussed the topic in an edition of her newsletter The Good in Us delivered to subscribers on Wednesday titled "Donald's Words Will Backfire." She also took the opportunity to highlight a variety of her uncle's recent speeches.

She said that while Donald Trump's "escalating and blatant bigotry is deeply unsettling," there are still reasons to be hopeful. The writer believes that her uncle becoming "less restrained" will eventually lead to his demise.

"By ramping up the rhetoric, Donald is inadvertently engaging Democrats in a big way. His inflammatory remarks galvanize us, the opposition, and mobilize voters who might otherwise have stayed on the sidelines. The more he pushes us, the more we push back," she wrote.

As well as this, Mary Trump believes that moderate voters who supported Nikki Haley are now questioning their allegiance to Donald Trump and "will not tolerate Donald's extremism."

Donald Trump's comments on the podcast aren't the only thing he's done in the past few days that has caused an uproar. At an Ohio rally on Saturday, he warned of a "bloodbath" in the U.S. should he lose the 2024 presidential election.

"We're gonna put a 100 percent tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you're not gonna be able to sell those guys if I get elected," Trump said while criticizing overseas manufacturing production. "Now, if I don't get elected, it's going to be a bloodbath for the whole. That's going to be the least of it. It's going to be a bloodbath for the country. That will be the least of it. But they're not going to sell those cars. They're building massive factories."

People interpreted Donald Trump's speech as a threat of political violence should he lose reelection to President Joe Biden.

The Biden-Harris campaign issued a statement, claiming Trump had said there would be a bloodbath if he wasn't elected, calling him a "loser who gets beat by over 7 million votes and then instead of appealing to a wider mainstream audience, doubles down on his threats of political violence."

However, Donald Trump's supporters and staff defended this comment as coming in the context of discussions about the auto industry. Steven Cheung, the Trump campaign's communications director, told Newsweek in an email on Saturday night that "economically it will be a bloodbath because Crooked Joe Biden's policies have decimated working families."

In her newsletter, Mary Trump disagreed with this statement, saying: "Donald intends to conjure images of chaos, unrest, and violence—violence of which he clearly approves as long as it is committed on his behalf."
