Senator Jon Ossoff criticized President Donald Trump's relationship with his aide Natalie Harp during a rally on Sunday, accusing him of preferring to "travel with Natalie" than performing his job.
The Democratic Senator was discussing the duration of U.S. Navy sailors' deployments on aircraft carriers this year when he launched a sharp attack against Trump.
"While the sailors on the Lincoln fight his war, while he fruitlessly drains our munitions and oil reserves, the president sleeps through his meetings," Ossoff said.
"He golfs and trades stocks. See, he doesn't want to do the job; he wants to build his ballroom and travel with Natalie to their apparently defenseless flying palace gifted by the Emir of Qatar."
Harp, 35, was one of only three aides who joined Trump in his recent plane-swap prompted by a potential Iranian missile attack threat. The president left behind Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, along with the White House press pool.
Harp's estranged brother, Preston Harp, recently claimed that her relationship with Trump was "very unhealthy," telling The New York Times that his sister was so devoted to Trump that she left admiring notes for him.
Newsweek contacted the White House for comment by email on Monday morning outside of standard working hours.
