Packers running back Josh Jacobs, who spent the first six weeks of the season on the commissioner’s exempt list following his arrest for an altercation with his then-girlfriend, was activated by Green Bay on Saturday and is expected to start Week 7 against the Lions, according to ESPN.

Jacobs had been on the commissioner’s exempt list since Aug. 30, which barred him from practicing or playing for the Packers while the NFL conducted its ongoing investigation.

He was charged with misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal damage to property in August following the incident in May, and he pleaded no contest to both.

Earlier this week, Jacobs addressed reporters for the first time since the incident, saying that “I’m remorseful and sorry for putting this team in this situation,” according to The Athletic.

“Sometimes when you go through life, situations occur, and a four-second, three-second decision can alter your life, honestly,” Jacobs added, according to the outlet.

Jacobs can still be suspended by the NFL at any point for the incident, and if it’s for six games or fewer, the 28-year-old will have already served it based on the time spent on the commissioner’s exempt list.

He allegedly “grabbed” his then-girlfriend in the garage of his Wisconsin home and “threw her to the ground,” according to a criminal complaint — and the phone of his then-girlfriend was also allegedly broken in the process.

“I know a lot of guys look up to me, a lot of guys come to me about real-life issues and things that go on in their lives,” Jacobs told reporters, according to The Athletic. “So for me, being that guy for a lot of people, it’s weird when you take that fall.”

Jacobs rushed for 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns during his first season with the Packers in 2024 and followed that up with 929 yards and 13 touchdowns in 15 games last year.

He spent the first five years of his career with the Raiders, and he remains under contract in Green Bay through the end of the 2027 campaign.

The Packers have won three consecutive games and sit at 4-2 entering their NFC North showdown with the Lions on Sunday.
