Los Angeles Lakers star guard Luka Dončić’s 52-point performance against the Utah Jazz on Sunday night was made even sweeter, given the trash talk he dealing with from a former teammate.
Jaxson Hayes spent the past three seasons with the Lakers before signing a two-year, $12 million deal with the Utah Jazz this past offseason. Hayes also spent much of the Lakers’ 132-123 win talking trash to Dončić.
At one point, Hayes was sitting on the bench and said something that sounded like advice on guarding Dončić while the Lakers star was dribbling down the court.
Dončić then pulled up and drained a three-pointer moments later. He immediately turned around and pointed to Hayes on the Jazz bench.
A few moments later, he turned back to the bench and said, “You know better than that, Jax!”
A video of this entire exchange has gained a ton of interest on social media, given Dončić’s immediate response to his ex-teammates’s trash talk.

— BBALLBREAKDOWN (@bballbreakdown) October 26, 2026This wasn’t the only time Hayes tried to trash-talk Dončić during the game. He also called him a “flopper” at one point, which also got a lot of social media attention.
But Dončić didn’t appear too disturbed by these comments, as proven by his 52-point outburst.
Dončić and Hayes still appear to be friendly with each other, given that much of this trash-talk appeared to be lighthearted.
Regardless, Dončić absolutely got the last laugh.
