Woman Documents Getting Stuck in Elevator for Hours, and It Looks Kinda Fun

We're all familiar with the excruciating awkwardness of an elevator ride with complete strangers, often leaving you counting down the seconds until you finally reach your floor. Those rides usually only last a matter of seconds, but what if one went on for four hours?

That's exactly what happened to Mia Padilla, who documented the experience on her TikTok account (@swagmoneyyyy). In the viral clip, she showed how she and two men were "stuck in an elevator for 4 hours," and the unexpected ways they managed to keep themselves entertained.

There certainly isn't a whole lot of entertainment in an elevator, but the trio busied themselves by creating chants and turning it into their own exclusive party as they sang loudly. Fortunately for the "complete strangers," they were eventually rescued and seen climbing out of the elevator shaft.

Since the clip was posted on February 5, it has gone viral with more than 12.9 million views and over 3.4 million likes on TikTok.

Thankfully, the trio ended up having a great time and made the most of the unusual experience, but for the estimated 12.5 percent of the population with some level of claustrophobia (according to the National Institute of Health), this would be their worst nightmare.

A phobia might be the extreme, but a poll conducted by YouGov in 2022 revealed that 17 percent of Americans are fearful of enclosed spaces, and 10 percent reported that they're scared of strangers.

Although this certainly wouldn't be an ideal situation, it turns out that people would prefer to get stuck in an elevator with others, rather than alone. Data from YouGov highlighted that 20 percent said they would prefer to be stuck by themselves, while 33 percent preferred the idea of a small group for company.

What Did the Comments Say?

While many people might dread being in this scenario, Padilla joked that they're "all trauma bonded besties" following the experience. They may not have planned to get to know each other so well, but those four hours in the elevator certainly created some great friendships.

Since going viral, the video has captured so much attention and Padilla has even shared follow-up clips on TikTok to show people just how much fun they ended up having throughout the four hours. Still, most people will be hoping that this never happens to them.

The amusing TikTok video left many people lauding the three individuals, with more than 10,700 comments on the post already. One comment reads: "Stuck in elevator with stranger to friends."

Another person responded: "You guys gotta have a reunion."

"Those are honestly the best ppl to get stuck in an elevator with," wrote another TikTok user.

While another social media user joked that "this is a whole movie plot."
