The Issue: A mistrial in the Lindsay Clancy case as jurors could not agree on her insanity defense.

The law that gives the jury the task of deciding whether Lindsay Clancy was insane or not is wrong (“Hit with mistrial mess,” Sept. 5).

Juries should only decide the facts of the crime. Judges should apply the insanity issue at sentencing. They are far more equipped and experienced to deal with the nuances of this situation.

Like so many others, I assumed Clancy was guilty until I started watching the trial. Now I believe that she is innocent.

I am utterly shocked at how the mainstream media is not investigating what happened to her and supporting innocent until proven guilty. Even limited exposure to the trial is enough to give someone reasonable doubt.

Other than a seemingly coached confession she gave while on medication and in the midst of ICU delirium, there is not enough evidence against her. If anything, the evidence points to Patrick.

This case is so nuanced and fascinating. Why are there no reputable journalistic outlets investigating it further?

Hypothetically, if Clancy were a man with the same history of mental illness on trial, I’m not sure you would see men’s rights activists with their children outside the courthouse and I suspect he would have been convicted by now.

Two things can be true: Clancy could have postpartum depression and be capable of knowing right from wrong.

Feminists claim women and men are equal but are finding any reason to shift the blame from Lindsay to her husband because they swear women couldn’t possibly do something as heinous as this.

No mother in her right mind would murder her precious children. Even if it was premeditated, only a sick mind would have such thoughts and follow through.

Clancy was under the influence of a multitude of psychotropic medications that can change brain chemistry. If anyone is responsible for the deaths of Clancy’s children, it is the prescribers. All of those health care professionals should be held accountable.

I heard Clancy plans to start a babysitting business when she is eventually released. I’m sure all the women who were demonstrating on her behalf will be the first in line with their kids to be her customers.

The Issue: Rapper Macklemore’s anti-Israel rant while opening for Ed Sheeran at MetLife Stadium.

Great, now we have a performer, Macklemore, of limited talent, pontificating about the situation in Gaza (“ ‘Mack’ is a dirty rap,” Sept. 7).

If Israel is practicing genocide, it’s doing a poor job. Also, at what concert did Macklemore talk about the Israelis who were raped, kidnapped and murdered on Oct. 7? His selective morality is sickening.
