The Texas mother who allegedly attacked her husband and two young children with a knife was spotted in a screaming match with him the day before, according to a report.
Holly Leeann Flores, 37, is facing attempted murder charges after she stabbed her husband, Justin Hommel, 34, in the head and their two children, a 3-year-old girl and a 10-month-old baby, in the chest before dawn on Tuesday, according to police.
Investigators have not yet revealed what led to the stabbing spree — which all three are expected to survive — but one witness told the Daily Mail Flores and her husband had a heated argument hours earlier.
“Yesterday I saw them arguing. I was out here working, I don’t know what the fight was about but I could see her pointing and waving her arms. She looked upset,” a witness who had been working construction next door told the paper.
Hommel, the man said, was “standing there listening and holding the baby,” while his wife yelled at him.
“I didn’t think much of it. All couples fight. Plus, she was so small compared to him,” he added.
Flores is listed as just 5-foot-3 and 130 pounds, according to jail records.
Hommel called 911 around 4:20 a.m. Tuesday and reported he had been stabbed in the head by his wife at their home in Northlake, a small town of about 5,000 people located about half an hour north of Fort Worth.
While on the phone with dispatchers, Hommel could be heard desperately trying to get to the children in another room while Flores was allegedly trying to stab him, Northlake Police Chief Robert Crawford told reporters at a press conference.
When cops arrived, they found a 3-year-old girl and a 10-month-old boy with stab wounds to their chests inside the house and rushed them to the hospital,
Flores, 37, was taken into custody and is facing two charges of attempted capital murder and one charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The mother received stitches for a “small cut on her chest area” before she was hauled off to jail.
The police chief revealed that cops had been called to the family’s address around five times since March, adding that most of the calls were for welfare concerns.
“It’s very heartbreaking when we have to respond to a traumatic event such as this,” Crawford said.
Flores is being held at the Denton County jail. No bond had been set as of Wednesday afternoon.
