First came the laptop harness from “The Rehearsal.” Now it’s a pair of $8 headphones from “You Can See Everything.” Once again, Nathan Fielder has become an unlikely source of affordable Halloween costume inspiration, this time courtesy of his buzzy Elizabeth Holmes documentary.
The comedian and filmmaker’s latest accessory — a pair of black, foam-padded headphones he wears while investigating the disgraced Theranos founder — is now making the rounds online. Internet sleuths have identified them as HamiltonBuhl SchoolMate headphones, which retail for just $7.99.
The new costume inspiration comes courtesy of “You Can See Everything,” the A24 documentary Fielder co-directed with Lance Oppenheim, which opened in theaters Oct. 16 following a surprise premiere at the Telluride Film Festival.
The nearly three-hour film follows disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes during the final 34 days before she began serving her prison sentence in 2023. Fielder and Oppenheim embed themselves in Holmes’ domestic life alongside her partner, Billy Evans, and their children, offering an unusually intimate portrait of the former Silicon Valley entrepreneur before her incarceration.
For a niche couples costume, the jailed tech founder also has an equally recognizable uniform: a black turtleneck, black trousers, a slicked-back blonde ponytail and her signature red lipstick. Add a Theranos-branded badge or a prop blood-testing device for good measure. The Steve Jobs-inspired ensemble has been a Halloween favorite since Holmes’ spectacular fall from grace, and most of the pieces are easy to find on Amazon or in your own closet.
