Week 7 delivered several major upsets, shook up the MVP race, and left the NFL with just one undefeated team.

Here are four of the biggest betting storylines heading into Week 8.

A new contender surges in MVP race

Joe Burrow is suddenly a serious contender for the NFL MVP award.

The Bengals quarterback saw his odds shrink from +1100 to +450 at DraftKings Sportsbook after throwing four second-half touchdown passes in Cincinnati’s 35-13 victory over Baltimore.

Burrow now trails only Josh Allen (+170) and Brock Purdy (+350) in the betting market.

Purdy’s odds dropped from +220 following San Francisco’s first loss, while Patrick Mahomes fell from +850 to +1500 after Kansas City’s ugly defeat against Seattle.

Caleb Williams was another major riser, jumping from +6500 to +1700 after helping Chicago improve to 5-2.

Oddsmakers aren’t sold on undefeated Vikings

The Vikings are the NFL’s only remaining undefeated team, but oddsmakers aren’t convinced of their future prospects.

Minnesota is a three-point underdog against the 4-2 Lions on Sunday, despite improving to 6-0 with a 16-10 victory over the Colts on Sunday.

Detroit originally opened as a 4.5-point favorite.

The skepticism extends to the Super Bowl market.

Minnesota has just the 10th-shortest championship odds at DraftKings (+1700), behind teams including the 3-4 Rams (+1050).

The 49ers remain the Super Bowl favorites at +580 despite suffering their first defeat, followed by the Bills (+700) and Chiefs (+900).

Giants’ playoff odds continue to improve

The Giants’ surprising season is starting to turn heads in the betting market.

New York’s odds to make the playoffs improved from +200 to +130 at bet365 Sportsbook after Sunday’s stunning 27-21 overtime victory over Houston as a 10.5-point underdog.

The Giants enter their bye week at 4-2-1, sitting atop the NFC East while the Cowboys and Eagles continue to struggle.

The Giants haven’t won the NFC East since 2011.

Biggest favorites keep losing outright

The NFL’s biggest favorites have become surprisingly unreliable.

For the third consecutive week, the team favored by the most points lost outright.

Betting on the NFL?

The Cowboys started the streak in Week 5, falling 24-16 to Tampa Bay as 9.5-point favorites.

The Rams followed in Week 6, losing 18-16 to Arizona despite being favored by 12.5 points.

On Sunday, Houston became the latest victim, losing to the Giants in overtime as a 10.5-point favorite.
