When Rasheem Biles announced he was leaving Pittsburgh and entering the NCAA transfer portal, he had a long list of suitors lining up to land his services.

The senior linebacker ultimately landed at Texas, but he recently revealed there was one national championship contender that made a major, yet unsuccessful push to poach him.

The Ohio State Buckeyes tried to play up the hometown angle — Biles was born in Columbus, Ohio, where OSU plays — but that ploy ultimately ended up blowing up in their face.

“I told my mom, I ain’t really trying to be in Columbus,” Biles said, via Inside Texas. “I ain’t trying to be a Buckeye. Like they didn’t want me out of high school and I was right there, so ain’t no point in trying to get me now … I’m excited for that game, definitely. That’s circled on my calendar for sure.”

The fact that Biles, who was a three-star recruit in the class of 2023 according to 247Sports, had multiple offers from teams like Pittsburgh, Purdue, West Virginia, Marshall, and others, but Ohio State showed no interest in him.

Biles is still holding a grudge because of that, and he gave Ohio State the same treatment in the transfer portal that it gave him coming out of high school.

Coming off a career season, Biles totaled 100 tackles, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two interceptions, and scoring two defensive touchdowns. In three years at Pittsburgh, he’s totaled 183 tackles, 10.5 sacks, here forced fumbles, three interceptions, and three defensive TDs.

Playing for Texas will certainly showcase Biles on a larger stage and give him more exposure during his senior season, which will certainly boost his NFL draft stock. But he’s also going to play in a defensive system better suited to his skillset under Longhorns defensive coordinator Will Muschamp.

“It’s amazing playing in his defense,” Biles added. “He really puts you in position to make plays. You can just be so versatile in his defense, because there’s so many different positions and people you could just move. He always put you in the best position to make the play. He’s going to put you to your strengths. He’s never going to put you in a bad position. … It’s meant for everybody to make plays.”
