Variety Awards Circuit section is the home for all awards news and related content throughout the year, featuring the following: the official predictions for the upcoming Oscars, Emmys, Grammys and Tony Awards ceremonies, curated by Variety chief awards editor Clayton Davis. The prediction pages reflect the current standings in the race and do not reflect personal preferences for any individual contender. As other formal (and informal) polls suggest, competitions are fluid and subject to change in response to buzz and events. Predictions are updated every Thursday.

Best International Feature Predictions Commentary (Updated: Oct. 1, 2026): The submission deadline for the best international feature Oscar has come and gone and now the industry waits to see how many countries are ultimately entering the race.

While we await the official tally, several contenders have already made their cases on the festival circuit. Spain’s “La Bola Negra” arrives with the TIFF People’s Choice Award, while Cannes has supplied two major players: Palme d’Or winner “Fjord,” representing Romania and the runner-up “Minotaur,” which will compete for France.

South Korea’s “Possible Love” also has significant momentum after Lee Chang-dong took the directing prize at Venice. And then there’s “Woman Unknown,” Denmark’s selection and the Golden Lion winner, which has perhaps the biggest question mark attached to its Oscar prospects as it still seeks U.S. distribution.

The list of predictions in all categories can be found here.
