Perez Hilton suffered multiple broken bones that resulted from falling the night of his mental health crisis, his brother-in-law revealed.

"The Perez Hilton Podcast with Chris Booker" just dropped a new episode ... and the updates on Perez's condition are pretty shocking.

Perez's brother-in-law Tom says the celebrity blogger is still being treated for his physical injuries -- which includes cuts ... and numerous broken bones he got from falling multiple times that horrifying night.

As we reported ... cops say Perez was treated for an overdose following his disturbing stream where he appeared to self-harm.

Perez is "lucid" and talking to his family, his sister Barbara Lavandeira's husband says ... but he has not been allowed to see his children, who are currently being taken care of by his mother, who has temporary legal guardianship.

Booker and Tom also discuss the possibility of sepsis-related psychosis contributing to his mental health crisis -- which can occur after a patient suffers from sepsis, as Perez did earlier this year ... although they acknowledge that theory is merely speculation.

There is no current timeline for Perez's recovery ... the Baker Act, which was keeping him in the hospital, has expired ... and Tom says he is going to be transferred to a new medical facility for his mental recovery.

Tom adds ... "However long that takes ... is however long that takes. I don't think you're going to see him pop up in a few days."
