Sean Payton and Mike Macdonald are all good.

Payton, head coach of the Denver Broncos, and Macdonald, head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, found themselves in an awkward situation after the latter was caught on a hot mic telling a story about the former during his interview on "In Depth with Graham Bensinger."

Macdonald described Payton as “not my biggest fan” during what he presumed was a private exchange with Bensinger.

“We play [the Broncos] our first game,” Macdonald said in a now-viral clip. “Fans will tape or post plays from training camp on Twitter, and so it’s like public knowledge. And so, we took, like, 100 plays from their training camp. We’re scouting them. Anyway, he got wind of it, and he lost it.”

Macdonald shared that Payton called Seahawks general manager John Schneider and “threatened to do a whole Patriot ‘Spygate’ type of thing,” which the Seahawks countered with a threat to sue if Payton publicly alleged they’d cheated. Eventually, everything was dropped.

Macdonald didn't intend for the story to be made public, and shared that he apologized to Payton during his news conference Wednesday.

“It’s something that I didn’t intend for public use,” Macdonald said. “But I thought it was the most appropriate thing to reach out to Sean and really just apologize to him for having that end up be public where it wasn’t meant to.”

Payton wasn't exactly broken up about the whole thing.

“We spoke,” Payton said Wednesday. “He and I are good. Lord knows I’ve been in his position where you’re talking about something — the story is three years ago.”

Payton and Macdonald claim they're in a better position following the incident than before, which is nice in a way. If there was ever a situation to get two football coaches to rally together, it's by going against the media.
