The Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card and the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card offer the same redemption options. Despite being marketed as cash-back cards, they technically earn Chase Ultimate Rewards® points. That means the welcome bonus offer of $900 bonus cash back after you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening is actually 90,000 Chase points.

You can redeem those points for cash back, travel booked through Chase, or gift cards at a rate of 1 cent each, which is a good deal already. However, there's a way to get more from your rewards if you also have an annual-fee Chase credit card, like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Chase Sapphire Reserve®, or the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card

When you transfer points from your Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card or Ink Business Cash® Credit Card account to one of the annual-fee cards mentioned above, you'll get more valuable redemption options, including the ability to transfer points to Chase's airline and hotel partners.

That's typically the most valuable way to redeem Chase Ultimate Rewards points (worth an average of 1.8 cents each, based on Insider's valuation of Chase points), making this 90,000-point bonus potentially worth $1,620 in travel. You can also use your points to book travel through the Chase Travel Portal for hotel, airfare, vacation rentals, car rentals, and more (worth 1.25 cents each when you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card, and 1.5 cents each with the Chase Sapphire Reserve®).

Keep in mind that the actual value of your points will vary based on where and when you travel, as well as which transfer partner you choose.

If you're not interested in using your bonus to travel, you can still get good value (1 cent per point) when redeeming Chase Ultimate Reward points as cash back, statement credits, direct deposits, gift cards, and Apple products through Ultimate Rewards.

You'll get the least amount of value for your points when you redeem for purchases on Amazon or PayPal (0.8 cents per point). This is a poor return considering your other redemption options.

What Chase Ink Business card is right for you?

The Ink Business Cash® credit card and the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card are both no-annual-fee cards offering the same limited-time welcome bonus of $900 bonus cash back after you spend $6,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening, as well as similar card benefits (such as primary car rental insurance when renting for business purchases, extended warranty, purchase protection, and roadside dispatch).

However, how they earn rewards is completely different. Finding the best Ink Business card for your business depends on how you spend. The Ink Business Cash® credit card is best for small businesses that frequently spend in the card's bonus categories.

The Ink Business Cash® credit card earns:

  • 5% back (5x points) at office supply stores and on internet, cable, and phone services up to the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases each account anniversary year (then 1%)
  • 2% back (2x points) at gas stations and restaurants on the first $25,000 spent in combined purchases each account anniversary year (then 1%)
  • 1% cash back (1x points) on all other purchases

On the other hand, if you'd prefer to earn straightforward rewards on all purchases with no category restrictions, then you should consider the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card instead. It earns flat-rate 1.5% cash back (1.5x points) on all purchases with no caps. This is an especially handy card for businesses that have shifting expenses in different categories.

Chase Ink Cash vs Ink Unlimited: Side-by-side comparison

If you're having trouble deciding between the Chase Ink cards, be sure to check out our comparison of the Chase Ink Business Cash and Ink Business Unlimited for a closer look at each card's features and benefits.

Here's a side-by-side comparison to help you narrow down your best option:

Don't forget about Chase's annual-fee Ink card, the Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card. It's currently offering an even bigger bonus of 100,000 points after spending $15,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening. While it comes with more benefits, it also charges a $95 annual fee. Read our comparison of all three Chase Ink Business cards to figure out which is best for your situation.

Who is eligible for the Chase Ink Business cards?

Before you apply for any credit card, it's important to familiarize yourself with any application rules that could affect your chances of approval. For example, some people might not consider the Chase Ink offers because they don't run a business full-time — without realizing that even part-time businesses or freelancers may qualify for a small-business credit card.

However, Chase cards, including the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card and Ink Business Cash® Credit Card, fall under what's commonly known as the Chase 5/24 rule. Simply put, if you've opened five or more credit cards (with the exception of certain business cards) from any bank in the last 24 months, your application will be denied.

The good news is these cards won't add to your 5/24 total — meaning Chase won't count them toward your five-card limit in the past 24 months. That's why if you're just starting with credit cards, it's a good strategy to apply for Chase cards (particularly Chase business cards) first.
