Stephen King's 'Firestarter' is now streaming on Peacock and playing in theaters — here's how to watch it at home

A new adaptation of Stephen King's 1980 novel "Firestarter" hit theaters and the Peacock streaming service on May 13. The new movie is the second big-screen adaptation of "Firestarter," following the 1984 film of the same name. 

The movie focuses on a father who must protect his daughter, Charlie, from a government agency after she develops pyrokinetic abilities. The sci-fi horror movie stars Zac Efron as Andy McGee, Ryan Kiera Armstrong as Charlie, and Sydney Lemmon as Vicky, Andy's wife and Charlie's mom.

Blumhouse Productions, known for horror movies including "Paranormal Activity," "Get Out," and "The Purge," produced "Firestarter." "Firestarter" is the latest Universal release to arrive on Peacock and in theaters at the same time. Previous same-day releases included titles like "Halloween Kills" and "Marry Me."

How to watch 'Firestarter'

You can watch "Firestarter" at home exclusively on Peacock Premium. The movie debuted on the streaming service and in theaters on May 13. 

Peacock Premium costs $5 a month or $50 a year and offers ad-supported access to Peacock's entire streaming library, including next-day Bravo and NBC episodes. Peacock also has a Premium Plus plan, which costs $10 a month or $100 a year, for ad-free streaming.

Can I watch 'Firestarter' for free?

Though Peacock has a free plan with ad-supported access to a limited selection of its catalog, new movie releases like "Firestarter" are only available to members with a Premium or Premium Plus plan. 

Peacock does not currently offer a free trial for either of its Premium options.
