Don’t kiss them, even though they’re Irish — stars like Pierce Brosnan, Jamie Dornan and Cillian Murphy all hail from Ireland, and they’re all happily married.
Some didn’t even have to leave the Emerald Isle to find love. Bono got his start by playing gigs for his high school in Dublin, which is also where he met his now-wife, Ali Hewson.
“We were teenagers. We went to the same school, high school,” the U2 frontman said during the Glamour Women of the Year Awards in November 2016. “It just so happens it was this afternoon [in 1976] I walked her to her bus – isn’t that mad?”
While not all of Ireland’s hunky exports have found love in their native country, many Irish stars have enjoyed lasting relationships. Brosnan celebrated 20 years of marriage with Keely Shaye Smith in August 2021.
“Happy anniversary my darling Keely, my love forever grows with you…☘️❤️,” Brosnan wrote via Instagram at the time.

The Oscar winner first crossed paths with McGuinness in 1996 and dated for nearly a decade before they said “I do” in 2004. The actor and the artist, who are both Ireland natives, have since welcomed two children. Their sons, Malachi and Aran, were born in 2005 and 2007, respectively.
When the Oppenheimer star accepted his Oscar for Best Actor in March 2024, he thanked his family for their support. "Yvonne McGuinness, my partner in life and our two boys, Malaki and Aaron, who are sitting up, there I love you so much, and I'm a very proud Irish man standing here tonight," he said.
The Belfast actor has been married to the English composer since 2013. The couple share three daughters: Dulcie, Evla and Alberta. While their current home base is Cotswold, England, the family often pops over to Dornan’s native Northern Ireland and to the U.S. based on his work schedule.
The Clondalkin, Ireland, native met Fitzgerald while filming 2018’s The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot. News broke in March 2021 that the Poldark star and the Masters of Sex alum secretly tied the knot in August 2020 during an Italian getaway. Fitzgerald gave birth to their first child in January 2022.
The German-born and Irish-bred actor met his love on the set of 2016’s The Light Between Oceans. The pair secretly tied the knot in October 2017 surrounded by friends and family in Ibiza. They later settled down in Lisbon, Portugal. The Swedish actress confirmed in September 2021 that the couple welcomed their first child, a son.
The Downton Abbey alum wed the American actress in January 2019 after meeting at a SAG Awards afterparty three years prior. The Killiney, Ireland, native welcomed his first daughter with Herman in 2020 and their second little girl was born in 2022.

The Once Upon a Time alum married his high school sweetheart in 2009. The couple, who grew up in nearby Irish towns, started dating when they were only 18 years old. The actor announced the birth of their first son, Evan James, via Twitter in August 2013.
Brosnan was previously married to Australian actress Cassandra Harris from 1980 until her death in 1991. The GoldenEye star found love again with American journalist Smith, whom he wed in his home country in August 2001. The duo share two sons: Dylan and Paris.
