For 25 years, an ordinary New Jersey train station parking lot has held an extraordinary reminder of the lives lost on 9/11. Middletown Township lost 37 residents that day—the largest loss of life from any community outside the five boroughs—and the cars they left behind became a haunting symbol of those who never came home. Now, a memorial garden beside the station keeps their memories alive, with a monument and photograph honoring each of the 37 victims. Twenty-five years later, the community continues to remember the people who left for work that morning and never returned.
