Outfield prospect Walker Jenkins is showing exactly why the Minnesota Twins should consider promoting him to the big leagues for a late-season playoff push.
Jenkins, Minnesota's No. 1 prospect for 2026 on MLB Pipeline, went 3-for-3 with two walks, three RBIs, and two runs scored for the Triple-A St. Paul Saints on Sunday. But most notably, the lefty-swinging outfielder launched two home runs in St. Paul's 8-5 loss to the Columbus Clippers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians. The 21-year-old drilled an opposite-field solo shot in the sixth inning and belted a 405-foot two-run homer in the seventh.
With his multi-homer performance on Sunday, Jenkins put the finishing touches on an incredible week at the plate. The young outfielder is 10-for-20 with four home runs and seven RBIs in his last five Triple-A games. He's also on a six-game hitting streak and has recorded at least one hit in 10 of his last 11 contests. If the top prospect keeps swinging the bat like that, the Twins may soon be forced to consider calling him up to the majors.

Jenkins has been limited to 71 games so far in 2026 after suffering a shoulder sprain earlier this season. The No. 5 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft has dealt with several injuries early in his professional career. But when he's healthy and on the field, the young outfielder has shown that he can produce at the plate.
Overall, Jenkins has a .321 batting average, a .416 on-base percentage, and a .970 OPS with 13 home runs, 30 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases this year. In August, the 21-year-old is hitting .415 and has a 1.293 OPS with seven homers in 16 games. He only launched six home runs in every other month combined this season.
The Twins entered Sunday's action at 63-67, within striking distance of the American League's third and final Wild Card spot. If Minnesota wants to go on a run in the final month of the regular season, calling up Jenkins could inject new life into the lineup. But for now, the top prospect will focus on continuing his hot streak at the plate in the minors.
