One of the most anticipated video games of last decade is set to release later this year, but a gameplay footage leak may have spoiled the surprise for millions of fans.

"Grand Theft Auto VI" will be unleashed on a frenzied gaming community on Nov. 19, 2026, barring any more unforeseen delays, and developer Rockstar Games is even giving fans a sneak peak of gameplay footage on Netflix on Aug. 27.

That wasn't enough for one anonymous X account, who decided to take matters into their own hands by leaking some footage of their own.

An X user going by the name "CyberLeek" has somehow allegedly obtained a build of the game and has posted several minutes of gameplay on their account.

Their most popular and comprehensive video involves flying a plane across the map to show off the size and scale of the world Rockstar has spent the past 13 years building.

The game's map is based on a fictionalized version of the state of Florida, and anyone familiar with the Sunshine State, more specifically the city of Miami, can spot several key landmarks in the two-minute video, including the Freedom Tower, the Southeast Financial Center, and the Kaseya Center where the Heat play their home games.

CyberLeek has several more videos driving vehicles and exploring interiors of buildings, so either they genuinely obtained a copy of a nearly finished GTA VI or this is all just really convincing AI.

Many on social media have expressed their anger in the comments section below the videos, though their ire isn't directed at CyberLeek, but rather at Rockstar.

Their gripe is that the supposed game CyberLeek is showing off doesn't look as good as they expected it to, given the nearly decade and a half it spent in production.

Arguments have broken out across social media questioning whether the videos posted are legitimate, and although no one has been able to confirm the validity, Rockstar and Take Two Interactive, the holding company that owns Rockstar, have yet to confirm nor deny these rumors while the videos continue to be flagged and taken down, fueling speculation.

OutKick has reached out to Rockstar for comment but has received no response.

CyberLeek claims they will continue to leak footage of the games to "fight for players (sic) rights," and are awaiting an apology from Rockstar.

Much of the vitriol apparently stems from the developers releasing GTA VI without physical copies of the game, a decision that was roundly mocked and derided last month.

It remains to be seen if these leaks are legit or not, but one thing is for sure, it has captivated an entire subculture of the internet and is just another chapter in the bizarre and seemingly never-ending story of GTA VI's development.
