Portland Thorns and United States Women's National Team midfielder Olivia Moultrie will miss the remainder of the 2026 season with an ACL injury, the Thorns announced on Tuesday. Moultrie reportedly suffered the injury in her right knee during training last week with Portland.
"Heartbroken doesn't even begin to sum up all of the feelings right now," Moultrie wrote on Instagram. "To be taken away from something you love more than anything is a feeling I never wanted to experience. I know there is a reason this path has been chosen for me and I can't promise everything but I can promise I'll be back and I'll be better."

"Olivia is one of the most driven players I have been around, and she will use that drive during her recovery and rehabilitation," Thorns president and general manager of soccer operations, Jeff Agoos, said in a statement. "She has our full support and every resource this club can put behind her."
Moultrie Will Be Out For Big Tournaments With The USWNT
The Concacaf W Championship is starting in late November, and the tournament will determine which teams qualify for the 2027 Women's World Cup in June.
Moultrie, who was named the 2023 U.S. Soccer's Young Female Player of the Year and won the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup with the USWNT, was expected to earn a spot on the World Cup roster. However, her recovery timeline will most likely interfere with the tournament.
The recovery for an ACL tear is typically between nine to 12 months. The World Cup is 10 months away.
