Vogue and the Met clearly aren't afraid to court controversy. Following last year's Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez-funded Met Gala, the theme of the museum's spring 2027 Costume Institute exhibition — and the accompanying star-studded ball — will be "John Galliano: Horizons." On this episode of "Currently Trending" Page Six Style & Shopping Director Elana Fishman explains the controversy and the decision process. In 2011, a video of the inebriated designer making antisemitic comments at a Paris café went viral. In the wake of the clip, which included Galliano declaring "I love Hitler," he was fired from his role as Dior, where he'd served as creative director for 15 years to much acclaim. He was convicted of a hate crime in a Paris court, publicly apologized, went to rehab to address his alcohol and drug addiction, and retreated from fashion for several years. In a statement, the Vogue global editorial director promised the Met exhibition will examine the good, the bad and the ugly of Galliano’s career thus far.
