Apparently, Sydney Sweeney’s viral nude ad was all her idea.
The CEO of Novig, the prediction market company that allows contract trading on sports only, said in an interview with Front Office Sports that Sweeney approached them first for an equity partnership.
“She said, ‘I’m uncomfortable with other platforms that have markets on what color underwear I’m going to wear,’” Jacob Fortinsky said in an interview. “There’s something clean about sports.”
Prediction market companies like Kalshi and Polymarket offer sports trading, but they also allow wagering on bizarre markets, such as politics, natural disasters and more.
“I think Sydney is great at captivating audiences and being the center of attention,” Fortinsky said to FOS. “In some sense, this forces us into the national discourse.”
She certainly captivated the audience, as Sweeney went fully nude for Novig’s ad, using a variety of sports props to cover her body enough to allow the advertisement to be legally distributed.
“Think you know sports? Prove it,” Sweeney says with two footballs barely covering her chest.
She then holds and wears a variety of sporting-related items, such as shoulder pads, a basketball, a tennis racquet and more, while saying, “You can trade this sport.”
While lying naked on a billiards table, Sweeney joked, “You can’t trade this sport. I just look good here.”
Now that the actress owns a piece of the company, the Novig CEO said Sweeney will return for a responsible trading campaign, so there is presumably more to come.
The Sweeney-Novig pairing is among the more surprising moves from a prediction market that have happened ahead of the NFL season.
