San Francisco Giants second baseman Luis Arráez will almost certainly be moved ahead of the trade deadline on Monday, Aug. 3.

Arráez has had something of a resurgence this season, as the former three-time batting champion has re-established himself as an above-average second baseman while returning to form in the batter's box -- currently leading MLB in batting average (.328) and sitting just two shy of the league lead in hits (136).

It's just one of those things where his obvious value doesn't totally align with what teams on the open market are looking for -- though some stand out as potential suitors.

The Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees, and Boston Red Sox are the three teams showing the strongest interest in the four-time All-Star, according to Beisbol FR's Francys Romero.

Tampa Bay has long been viewed as a likely landing spot, with that organization putting perhaps more value on bat-to-ball skills than any other and in desperate need of help at second base. Gavin Lux was supposed to be the every day option, but has missed the entire season due to a right shoulder impingement and left shoulder inflammation, while replacements Ben Williamson and Richie Palacios have combined for an 83 OPS+ at the position in 2026.

New York is always looking for help, and has no shortage of places to shift current second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr., who could easily slide over to third base and replace Ryan McMahon or play in the outfield while the club awaits the return of Aaron Judge.

Boston would prefer help at shortstop, though the likely season-ending injury to recent acquisition Curtis Mead has left the club scrambling for an answer between Anthony Seigler, Nick Sogard, and Romy Gonzalez -- the organization would just need to decide whether or not it is willing to pay to add what would certainly be a rental in Arráez.

Arráez reportedly refuses to move off second base as he enters another free agency period, so the acquiring team would need to make that commitment. The Rays could and likely would, perhaps giving them the edge in a sweepstakes between the American League East.
