The New York Jets made some unfortunate NFL history in 2025, becoming the first defense in league history to go an entire season without an interception.

Now heading into the 2026 campaign, the Jets' defense is squarely focused on increasing its turnover production.

Brandon Stephens, a 28-year-old veteran cornerback, is entering his second NFL campaign with New York.

"I tell myself that even in my sleep," Stephen said of last year's struggles, via the team's official website. "In order to win games, you have to take the ball away to give yourself that advantage. That's definitely the focus, how could it not be?

"Last season was what it was. This is a new season to prove myself, prove ourselves as a team," the cornerback added. "We know that turnovers aren't going to create themselves, right? We have to go take them away and capitalize on opportunities when they present themselves."

Stephens has two career interceptions, both of which came during his 2023 season with the Baltimore Ravens.

"He made a couple plays today. The thing is we want that to be consistent and he knows that," head coach Aaron Glenn said of Stephens at training camp practice earlier this week. "Every day, if he can just continue to have that focus, I think he'll continue to improve in that aspect."
