Weeks after suffering an injury to the ACL and meniscus in his right knee, Conor McGregor is officially on the mend.

The former two-division UFC champion revealed earlier this week that he was heading into the fifth post-UFC 329 surgery, and on Friday, McGregor took to social media to let fans know where he stands in his recovery and potential UFC return.

“Surgery done. Knee repaired. The doubters can keep talking. I didn’t run from the pain. I walked straight into it. Now the real work begins. Comeback season starts now. No shortcuts. No excuses. Just the will to rise again,” McGregor posted on X.

McGregor faces a lengthy layoff with an estimated return timeline of 9-12 months.

Though he’ll be sidelined for a while as he works his way back, McGregor acknowledged in a video on X that others including former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz, former UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, and seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady have successfully accomplished what he’s trying to do, and they were his motivation for his personal rehabilitation.

“My mindset is unstoppable, unbreakable,” McGregor stated in the video. “… I love you all.”

The 38-year-old McGregor had mentioned in a previous social media post that his goal is to heal up from his surgery and return to the Octagon next year and finish the final fight of his UFC contract.

He’s made it clear he wants that fight to be against Max Holloway, the fighter he faced at UFC 329 where he injured his knee seconds into the bout after attempting an ill-fated leaping roundhouse kick.
