DeMar DeRozan remains unsigned as an unrestricted free agent after being waived by his former team, the Sacramento Kings last month.

Since his release, rumors have swirled about which potential team could land the six-time NBA All-Star, including three potential playoff contenders in the upcoming season.

Early Monday morning, DeRozan shared a cryptic message on his X account, leaving many wondering what he could be referring to with his comments.

"In closing, I remain the same. I come as I leave…," DeRozan tweeted, with many individuals reacting to the remark.

A lot of the commenters were asking or urging DeRozan to return to specific teams, including his original team, the Toronto Raptors, and last year's NBA Finals runner-up team, the San Antonio Spurs.

"Really TO is your home. Don’t need to leave anywhere. Retire here with a chip. Make it happen," one commenter replied to DeRozan.

"What does this mean?!?! Are you coming home!!!!!!! You have fans waiting and hoping for your return announcement," another commenter said.

"Demar go back to the Spurs, & help Wemby get the championship in 2026-2027 season," an X commenter suggested.

Others wrote: "We want you in Miami, goat," and "COME TO WARRIORS!!! NOT SIXMAN."

Some were hoping that DeRozan's message wasn't him referring to his retirement from the NBA. He's played 17 seasons and for multiple teams, including the Raptors, Spurs, Chicago Bulls, and Kings.

Last season, the 36-year-old guard/forward averaged 18.4 points, 4.1 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and a steal per game for the Kings, showing he can still contribute at a high level. Adding him to the right rotation can still make sense for many teams.

As of this writing, DeRozan is exploring potential interest from four teams: the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Denver Nuggets, and Washington Wizards.

The first three teams seem playoff-bound, as Cleveland and Denver participated in the most recent postseason. The Heat nearly got into the playoffs but lost to the Hornets in the Sofi Play-In Tournament. Since then, they've added Giannis Antetokounmpo alongside Bam Adebayo this offseason, and bringing in DeRozan could certainly help make an intriguing "Big Three" in South Beach.

The same could be said of the Washington Wizards, who have former All-Star players Trae Young and Anthony Davis, as well as their No. 1 pick from this past year's draft, AJ Dybantsa. DeRozan in the starting lineup would give them even more potential to rack up wins and get into the playoffs.

He would be an asset for many teams, but may have decided it's time to end his career. As of this writing, there's no confirmation he'll do that, and it would be unfortunate to see him no longer bringing his talents to the NBA hardwood.
