New York Mets pitcher Jefry Yan was known amongst baseball fans despite only having made his major league debut on Wednesday.

Yan, 29, has garnered plenty of attention for his rather demonstrative way of celebrating strikeouts, with his signature leap/split/smack combination of emotes doing the rounds on social media throughout the years. It's perhaps the only celebration of its kind, and finally made its way to the big leagues in the form of a scoreless inning against the Cleveland Guardians.

If you can't have fun with that as an impartial observer, you might be the problem. The Guardians fans who has to watch that twice while their first-place team lost to a last-place team, however, didn't take too kindly.

Yan was booed heavily by the time he walked off the mound, but he didn't seem to mind after escaping a bases loaded jam that really seemed to annoy the crowd at Progressive Field.

“I don’t care about that, they can do what they want there,” Yan said, as transcribed by Mike Puma of The New York Post. “They are paying for their tickets. If they want to yell at me, if they want to boo me, they can do what they want. I’m in my zone, and I am going to enjoy my game any way that I want to.”

Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez was even seen mocking the rookie's celebration after his club took the lead in the seventh inning.

Yan's journey alone is enough to have him celebrating, as the fireballer found himself out of organized baseball for four years after he was released by the Los Angeles Angels in 2016, with his journey since then including stops with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, Saitama Seibu Lions, Albuquerque Isotopes, and Estrellas Orientales.

If he isn't allowed to celebrate after all that, then what are we doing here?
