Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson returned to practice on Friday after missing the last four training camp sessions due to personal reasons. He was only a limited participant in his return, but still a welcome sight as the backbone of the Eagles' offensive line.
Johnson even earned serious praise from teammate Jordan Davis, the Eagles' defensive tackle. "He has a calming presence," Davis said. "One day, I'm not going to be able to say that I have him in the locker room. It's just very good to have him out here. Everybody knows he's a baller, man. He's a cornerstone."

The Eagles offense as a whole struggled last season. A.J. Brown, now with the New England Patriots, put up some of the worst numbers of his career, finishing with just 1,003 receiving yards across 15 games — his lowest total since 2021, when he appeared in just 13 games. Saquon Barkley dropped off significantly from his dominant 2025 campaign, nearly cutting his rushing totals in half. And Jalen Hurts had his lowest rushing total (421) since his 2020 rookie year, and his lowest completion percentage (64.8%) since 2020.
Part of the struggles as a group could be traced back to Johnson, a six-time Pro Bowler and one of the best right tackles in NFL history, appearing in only 10 games due to a serious foot injury — his lowest total since 2020.
But now that Johnson's healthy, he's expected to anchor an Eagles line that will need to help Barkley and Hurts get back to the dominant ground game that made Philly such a threat in 2024. With Brown gone, and rookie Makai Lemon taking over the No. 2 spot next to DeVonta Smith, there may be even more pressure on the Eagles to reestablish themselves as one of the top rushing attacks in football.
