Former NBA MVP Joel Embiid is embracing the new-look Philadelphia 76ers lineup ahead of the upcoming season with his brand new teammates.

This offseason, Philly made a major splash to upgrade their squad in an attempt to contend with strong Eastern Conference foes, including the defending-champion New York Knicks. After pulling off a blockbuster trade to acquire Jaylen Brown from the Celtics, the 76ers won the LeBron James sweepstakes, signing the NBA legend to a two-year deal.

Those moves created a superteam that also features All-Star players Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, as well as emerging young star VJ Edgecombe. Many have already crowned them as the team to beat, at least in the East.

And based on early indications, Embiid is looking towards this new season with much optimism, as he unveiled several new workout photos alongside teammate VJ Edgecombe showing a slimmer physique.

"Almost that time!!!!" the 76ers big man wrote in a message with his X post.

Many of the fans replying to Embiid's new photos expressed their excitement about his new look and optimism for a new season.

"SkinnyBiid I’m so happy man he deserves this ring this yea," an X commenter replied.

"When was the last time he posted an on court workout picture in August. LFG," another commenter said.

Others commented, "He looks thin!! Oh my gosh!! Let's GOOO!! Get me hyped!!!" and "Wow biid you looking slim and trim process getting completed this year chills."

Embiid's post arrives soon after Twitch live-stream remarks that Brown made about his approach and everyone working together to gel for the common good of the team.

"It's going to take a lot of kind of feeling things out with each other, everybody getting on the same page, constant communication. Just to be a little more fast and nimble. I've got to keep up with Maxey and Edgecombe and LeBron this year. I feel great. I'm jumping higher and running faster," he said.

Based on those remarks, everyone is excited about the possibilities, as this lineup certainly assembles some of the league's best talent on paper. Embiid, when healthy, has shown himself to be one of the most dominant big men in the league, capturing the NBA MVP Award in the 2022-23 season.

LeBron is a four-time MVP and has won the NBA Finals MVP with each of his four championships. Fans are hoping that he'll add a fifth championship ring in Philadelphia.

With Embiid, the key will be his staying healthy so he can contribute in the upcoming season. He played in only 38 games last season, 19 games the season before, and 39 games in the 2023-24 season.

He's still maintained a double-double average throughout his career, with 27.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. That said, having two more All-Stars in the lineup capable of scoring 20-plus and grabbing 10 rebounds on any given night can certainly make life a bit easier for Embiid in their games.

As of right now, it's great to see Embiid excited about the possibilities with his new teammates, as he knows these next two seasons could be the best of his career in Philadelphia.
