The Boston Red Sox were crushed for their acquisition of catcher Adley Rutschman on Monday.
The Baltimore Orioles were crushed for trading catcher Adley Rutschman on Monday.
If that doesn't tell you how reactionary people can be around the trade deadline, what will?
MassLive's Sean McAdam spoke with someone who hated the deal for Boston, with one talent evaluator saying it was "literally one of the most ridiculous trades" he'd ever seen -- essentially alluding to the fact that they overpaid by giving up prospects Anthony Eyanson, Kyson Witherspoon, Enddy Azcobar, Carlos Narvaez, and another player whose name will be rebealed later.
Marquee's Lance Brozdowski spoke with someone who hated the deal for Baltimore, with an executive essentially having the opposite opinion.

"I texted someone in another front office, and he said the Orioles got duped, where they're basically taking on damaged goods in Eyanson and Witherspoon," Brozdowski said in an appearance on "Foul Territory" on Monday.
Eyanson and Witherspoon were both taken in the 2025 MLB Draft, with the former rocketing up prospect rankings after being selected in the fourth round and the latter slipping after being selected in the first round. Eyanson has only been getting better throughout his first season of professional baseball. Witherspoon, on the other hand, has been involved in some rumors that he wasn't following the plan that the organization set forth for him.
If that's the case, perhaps it helps paint the picture of why the package was so large.
