The Tennessee Volunteers have been recruiting heavily, even recruiting some of the best players from within the state of Tennessee. One of the players that the Vols have watched closely as of recently is 2028 four-star safety Braylen Bedford.

Bedford is a player who has already proven to be great in coverage and a difference-maker when it comes to the return game. As of now, Bedford ranks as an extremely high four-star prospect, as he ranks as high as the No. 44 prospect in the country, according to Rivals. Rivals also has him listed as the No. 4 safety and the No. 2 player in the state when it comes to Tennessee.

Beford played against the Baylor Red Raiders in the first game of the season on Thursday. Despite the game not going his way, the Tennessee Volunteers target caught up with Vols On SI to discuss where things stand in his recruitment.

"I feel like I did pretty good. Really just my vocal standpoint, I could get better on that with my teammates. Being a more vocal teammate," Bedford said following the loss to begin the season.

The talented safety from Brentwood Academy would then go into detail about where the Vols stand at this moment in his recruitment.

"They are one of my top schools right now. I got a few top schools right now, and they are definitely one of them," Bedford said.

It didn't take long for the conversation to shift towards his visit schedule. While he has yet to fully schedule a game, there is one that he hopes to attend more than the others.

"I am going to a couple games this season," Bedford said. "I like that Texas game, there's a few of them, but I like that Texas game."

As many may know, the Tennessee Vols have two commits on the Brentwood Academy team. Those commits are standout wide receiver target Kesean Bowman and legacy linebacker commit Kenneth Simon II.

As expected, the two players have been trying their best when it comes to Bedford, as they have hopes that he will join them in Knoxville, Tennessee.

"They have been trying to get me there every day," Bedford said laughingly. "They want me to commit, but it's too early for that right now," Bedford said.

Bedford may not be ready to make a commitment now, but he does have his sights set on a possible commitment timeline, although this is subject to change.

"I am going to probably wait sometime after the season, probably for the OVs (official visits). I am going to go on my OVs first maybe," Bedford said.

While the Vols have been considered a top school already, it is safe to say that they could be on the receiving end of an official visit.

"I am very comfortable saying Tennessee is likely to get an official visit, because I could see myself in their play scheme, and they really make me feel like family, I love it there," Bedford said.

"Coach Josh Heupel is a coach I have connected with. I have been talking with him a lot," Bedford said. "His message in the past has been, keep doing what I am doing, stay healthy, and all of that."

He has also already started looking into what Jim Knowles' defense looks like, despite the talented defensive coordinator not having a single game under his belt in a Tennessee uniform yet.

"I have seen some videos of how Jim Knowles does the drills and stuff like that," Bedford said.

It remains early, and his top schools could change, but Bedford provided the list of schools that are standing out the most as he continues to progress towards the next stage of his recruitment, which seems to be game day visits.

"Ole Miss, Tennessee, Oregon, Michigan, and Texas A&M," Bedford said.
