The Los Angeles Rams are a favorite to win the Super Bowl this year in large part because of a core group of veterans.

Those veterans will be tested by the complications of aging in an extreme contact sport.

On Sunday, Rams wide receiver Davante Adams told reporters that he can still make many of the plays he did earlier in his career, but his 33-year-old body can't respond to the blows the way he did when he was in his 20s.

“I battle with that sometimes, I do,” Adams said, via a transcription by Pro Football Talk. “I am the old man and I feel young because I can still go out there and do young man stuff, but then my body don’t necessarily feel the same way it’s done as it was back at Puka [Nacua’s] age.

“At the end of the day, what’s 13 times seven? Because this is dog years out here. It’s a whole different ball game than living years. If I can continue to play at a high level, I’ll deal with the other stuff whether it’s talking about me being old or a little bit of extra pain. It’s just a little extra work you have to do to come out of it.”

Adams, a second-round pick by the Green Bay Packers in 2014, was the second leading receiver on the Rams last season with 60 receptions for 789 yards and 14 touchdowns. He led Los Angeles in receiving touchdowns.

Adams has more to give the Rams this season, and he'll be catching passes from Matthew Stafford this season after the 38-year-old quarterback mulled retirement not long after winning his first MVP award.

It's fair to wonder how many more years Adams has left in him after making those comments. Eventually, the pain won't be worth going through for the three-time All-Pro. That makes this season even more critical for Adams, as it may be his best shot to win a Super Bowl.

During the same training camp, Aaron Donald is thinking about un-retiring to play for Los Angeles. He'll have to determine whether his 35-year-old frame is ready to go through the rigors of another NFL season in the hopes of winning his second Super Bowl.
