The New England Patriots made the headline splash of the offseason, trading a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for All-Pro wide receiver A.J. Brown.

New England's leading receiver last season was Stefon Diggs, who finished with 1,013 receiving yards on 85 receptions. But Diggs is now a free agent, and the Patriots needed to give Drake Maye a legitimate WR1 to help push this team over the top.

Yet another offseason addition hasn't gotten nearly the attention he deserves: Romeo Doubs. Doubs put together one of his best seasons last year with the Green Bay Packers, leading all Packers receivers in yards (724), receptions (55), and targets (85), while tying for the team lead in touchdowns (six).

Doubs recently spoke about adjusting to life in New England. "The process has been really good," he said. "I love where I am, I love where our team is, I love the intensity of camp practices and things of that nature."

Asked about his growing chemistry with Maye, Doubs added, "It's a day-to-day grind. It takes a certain amount of trust. I'm glad to be around a guy like Drake. He's a leader. He's poised."

Maye is just two years into his career and already playing like one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Last season, he completed 72% of his passes for 4,394 yards, 31 touchdowns, and just eight interceptions, adding 450 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns on the ground.

More importantly, his play helped lead the Patriots back to the playoffs for the first time since 2021, to their first 14-win season since 2016, and to their first Super Bowl appearance since the Tom Brady era. And he did all of that with a 32-year-old Diggs, coming off a torn ACL, as his lead receiver.

With Brown and Doubs now in the room, Maye has an even more dangerous group of pass-catchers as the Patriots look to finish the job in 2026.
