New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye’s troubles just keep on mounting.

Not only is the 24-year-old North Carolina product off to a slow start without star wide receiver A.J. Brown, but he’s roughing through a right shoulder injury. And let us sidestep discussing that Patriots soul-sucking loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars during Week 3.

While plenty of professions have stepped forward to defend Maye, like Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen and former Pats’ tight end Rob Gronkowski, there are those who are calling for head coach Mike Vrabel to bench the young QB.

Like Terry Bradshaw.

“Sometimes, you get into such a rut you lose your confidence, which is what’s happened,” Bradshaw said on Fox NFL Sunday prior to the Patriots game against the Bills. “Sometimes, you have to bench him. You just sit him down. Doesn’t mean he’s not your No.1.”
