The predominant offseason storyline has been the Los Angeles Rams managing to make the most stacked roster in the NFL even greater — headlined by the acquisitions of Trent McDuffie from the Kansas City Chiefs and Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns.

Quietly, the Houston Texans have also bolstered one of the league's best defenses, if not the best defense. The Texans signed Danielle Hunter, Will Anderson Jr., and Azeez Al-Shaair to contract extensions, and now, they've reunited with veteran defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, whom they drafted No. 1 overall in 2014.

"Back to where it began for Jadeveon Clowney: The former No. 1 overall pick of the Texans has agreed to terms with Houston, sources tell me and @RapSheet," Mike Garafolo reported Sunday, Aug. 2.

“I've grown up and learned the game a lot more since leaving,” Clowney exclusively told Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle. “I feel like I can help the younger guys. I've learned how to lead and what it takes to get to a Super Bowl. I feel like I can help this team."

Clowney, 33, also disclosed that he visited the Browns and received more lucrative offers and a guaranteed starting role from other teams, per Alexander.

Clowney played his first five NFL seasons in Houston before bouncing around with the Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, Browns, Baltimore Ravens, Carolina Panthers, and Dallas Cowboys. Last season in Dallas, Clowney appeared in 13 games, starting six, and recorded 8.5 sacks, 10 QB hits, 12 tackles for loss, and 41 tackles (24 solo).

Back with the Texans, Clowney has a shot at a fairytale ending by contributing to helping the franchise that drafted him win its first Super Bowl.
