The Tennessee Titans received a lot of criticism for selecting Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. However, the rookie has been proving anyone who was thinking that wrong in the beginning stages of training camp.

During the Titans' latest practice in front of fans, Carnell Tate reeled in a spectacular one-handed grab from quarterback Cam Ward, adding to his growing list of highlight reels this offseason.

Tate never got the chance to prove he can be a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver in college, playing behind the likes of Marvin Harrison Jr., Emeka Egbuka and Jeremiah Smith.

That is why many pegged him as a reach at the No. 4 overall selection in this year's draft, but that doesn't mean he isn't capable of being a No. 1 option at the next level.

Tate always took advantage of the opportunities he had at Ohio State, recording 121 catches for 1,872 yards and 14 touchdowns from 2023-25, and now, he will get even more opportunities to do so in Tennessee.

Tate isn't the first of his kind, either. Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who is regarded as one of the best players at the position in the NFL, primarily played behind wide receivers Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave during his time at Ohio State.

This isn't to say Tate will become the next JSN, but he's certainly been flashing that capability early on in training camp.

The next test will be live action during the team's preseason slate of games. If Tate continues to look to be on a level above the rest, it will only further prove the Titans have something special in him and were right for selecting him in April.
